afra
A one-off 1960s kitsch chaise, direct from Africa. This piece is a chameleon, with a removeable back. A truely statement piece of furniture with all signs of a unique vintage piece but updated with Kvadrat fabrics, designed by Raf Simons and Doshi Levien.
Hand finished and upholstered by BPL in her London studio, the Afra chaise was created with the bones of an original mid-century frame, completely stripped back and reworked using hardwood on the frame, and rubberised hair and wool, as the original. The Sapele Mahogany show wood has been refinished to show its depth and beauty.
All of BPL’s pieces are inspired by a magpie's eye to create unique, covetable treasures to last a lifetime and more. Barbara hopes these pieces will be cherished and passed down through generations. Each piece is handmade from start to finish one at a time. Due to the nature of handwork, each piece will vary, making it unique.
Measurements: height 78cm, width 192cm, depth 80cm, seat depth 56cm.
